The Government of India has appointed Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh as the next Chief of the Air Staff, succeeding Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari, whose tenure ends on September 30, 2024.
Air Marshal Singh, an experienced fighter pilot, was commissioned into the Indian Air Force (IAF) in December 1984. Over his distinguished career, he has held numerous key positions and boasts more than 5,000 flight hours on both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. A highly accomplished officer, Singh is a Qualified Flying Instructor and Experimental Test Pilot.
An alumnus of the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA), Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), and National Defence College (NDC), Air Marshal Singh brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His leadership is expected to guide the Indian Air Force through evolving security challenges and modernization efforts.
