New Delhi: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. This significant event took place on the auspicious occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the National Education Policy 2020. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister also unveiled the initial installment of funds under the esteemed PM SHRI Scheme. A grand total of 6207 schools were fortunate to receive this initial installment, amounting to a remarkable sum of 630 crore Rupees. Additionally, the Prime Minister made a noteworthy contribution by releasing education and skill curriculum books translated into 12 different Indian languages. All these remarkable efforts were coupled with the Prime Minister’s enthusiastic participation in an insightful exhibition showcased on this special occasion.
Addressing the audience, the Prime Minister highlighted the paramount importance of education as a catalyst for shaping the nation’s future. ‘Our education system plays a pivotal role in realizing the objectives that drive 21st century India,’ he affirmed. Stressing the significance of the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam, the Prime Minister underscored the criticality of constructive dialogue and deliberation in the realm of education. Furthermore, he drew attention to the remarkable alignment between the last Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam, held at the newly completed Rudraksha convention center in Varanasi, and this year’s event taking place in the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam.
He highlighted:
- New curriculum in primary education, books in regional languages, for higher education and for strengthening the research ecosystem in the country.
- Education will begin at the age of 3, bringing uniformity to the entire country.
- The framework for 3-8 years old students is ready, and the entire country will have a uniform syllabus.
- NCERT is preparing new course books, which will be introduced soon.
- New books of about 130 various subjects will be introduced for classes 3 to 12 in 22 different languages as a result of education being imparted in regional languages.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of integrating vocational education with general education and outlined strategies to make education more engaging and interactive. He highlighted the limited availability of labs and practicals in schools in the past but shed light on the Atal Tinkering Labs, where more than 75 lakh students are actively engaged in learning about science and innovation. ‘Science is becoming more accessible to everyone,’ he stated, emphasizing the role of these young scientists in shaping the future of the country and transforming India into a global research hub.
