GOBARdhan Portal Crosses 1000 Registrations, Boosts Biogas Sector

New Delhi: In a remarkably short period of time, a staggering total of 1200 plants, encompassing 320 CBG plants and 892 Biogas plants, have been officially recorded on the platform. These plants are spread out across the nation, spanning a vast number of 450 districts.

52 CBG plants that have been commissioned and registered on the portal possess a capacity to process over 6600 Tonne Per Day (TPD) of organic and agricultural residue. This results in the production of more than 300 TPD of CBG and over 2000 TPD of Fermented Organic Manure (FOM).

The projected registration numbers are expected to increase further with the continued support and focus of the Indian government on creating a thriving CBG/Biogas ecosystem. The government is taking several steps to encourage the use of CBG, including providing financial assistance for the promotion of organic fertilizers, simplifying the marketing of FOM/Liquid FOM, and exempting CNG blended with CBG from central excise duty. Additionally, CBG has been included in the list of activities for trading carbon credits, which will help to further promote the use of this renewable energy source.

The CBG/Biogas operators/investors have expressed their appreciation for the various initiatives introduced under GOBARDhan. The upcoming policies, such as providing fiscal support for biomass aggregation and establishing pipeline connectivity from the CBG plants to the city gas distribution grid, aim to generate greater awareness and involvement among the stakeholders across the value chain.

About GOBARDHAN

The recently launched GOBARDHAN portal, developed by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation on 1 June, has received remarkable enthusiasm from states or union territories, as well as CBG or biogas operators and investors. This portal was introduced with the aim of streamlining the registration process for existing, ongoing, and planned biogas or CBG plants nationwide.
