Amitesh Kumar Sinha has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the organization announced on Monday. His appointment comes at a critical juncture as the government prepares to launch the second phase of the India Semiconductor Mission, a key initiative aimed at strengthening India’s semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.
Sinha, an officer from the 1996 batch of the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS), was recently named Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) earlier this month. He succeeds Sushil Pal in his new role at ISM.
Notably, Sinha has previously served as the CEO of ISM, bringing valuable experience to the role. During his tenure as Joint Secretary at MeitY, he was instrumental in policy formulation and spearheading various promotional schemes for the electronics sector, including production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes for mobile phones, IT hardware, electronic components, and semiconductors under the Semicon India Programme.
An alumnus of Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur, Sinha holds a degree in civil engineering. His extensive experience in public policy and sectoral promotion is expected to provide strong leadership to the ISM as it moves into its next phase of growth.
