Apex Body Leh Raises Concerns Over University of Ladakh’s Recruitment Policy

The Apex Body Leh convened a press conference  to express their apprehensions regarding the recruitment policy of the University of Ladakh (UoL) concerning teaching and non-teaching positions.

Addressing the media, Ashraf Barcha, spokesperson for the Apex Body Leh, highlighted the need for the finalization of amendments to UoL’s act before initiating the recruitment process. Barcha emphasized that the current opening of recruitment for teaching and non-teaching staff is premature and urged a postponement until the necessary amendments are ratified.

Barcha pointed out a significant concern related to the ambiguity surrounding Schedule Tribe (ST) seats. He stressed the importance of clarifying the ST seats, as individuals from STs of Jammu & Kashmir are eligible to apply for the posts. Without a clear resolution on Ladakhi ST seats, the ongoing recruitment process could be a source of disappointment for the Ladakhi community.

The spokesperson asserted that, until these crucial issues are addressed and resolved, the interviews for the recruitment should be postponed. Barcha warned that failure to do so could have detrimental consequences for the Ladakhi population, and it is in the best interest of all stakeholders to ensure a fair and transparent recruitment process.

The Apex Body Leh called for a swift resolution to these concerns and urged the University of Ladakh to engage in open dialogue with stakeholders to address the grievances and uncertainties surrounding the recruitment policy.
