Big Bureaucratic Reshuffle in Telangana: Jayesh Ranjan, Smita Sabharwal, Dana Kishore Among Key Transfers

In a sweeping administrative reshuffle, the Telangana government has transferred and posted close to two dozen IAS officers across key departments, minutes after appointing K. Ramakrishna Rao as the new Chief Secretary, effective May 1.

Among the major changes, Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary for Industries and IT, has been appointed as CEO of the Industry and Investment Cell at the Chief Minister’s Office as well as the Smart Proactive Efficient and Effective Delivery (SPEED) initiative. Ranjan will also hold full additional charge as Special Chief Secretary, Youth Advancement, Tourism & Culture (YAT&C) and Director of Archaeology, relieving Smita Sabharwal.

Smita Sabharwal has been posted as Member Secretary of the Telangana Finance Commission following her transfer.

Sanjay Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, Labour Department, will succeed Ranjan as Special Chief Secretary of IT, Industries, and Commerce. Meanwhile, K. Shashanka, previously the Commissioner of State Flagship Projects, has been named Commissioner of the Future City Development Authority, with additional responsibility as Director of Mines and Geology.

In other significant movements, M. Dana Kishore, Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration, has been posted as Principal Secretary of the Labour Department. He will continue holding additional charges, including Principal Secretary to the Governor and multiple directorial roles in the Labour sector.

T.K. Sreedevi, earlier Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration, has been appointed as Secretary for the Municipal Administration Department (outside HMDA limits), with full additional charge as Director of Municipal Administration for municipalities and corporations beyond ORR limits.

  1. Ilambarthi, GHMC Commissioner, has been moved as Secretary for the Metropolitan Area and Urban Development (HMDA limits), while R.V. Karnan, Director of Health and Family Welfare, will take over as GHMC Commissioner.

Further, S. Harish, Special Commissioner for Information and Public Relations (I&PR), has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of Genco, taking over from Sandeep Kumar Sultania, while retaining additional charges of I&PR Commissioner and Joint Secretary for Disaster Management in the Revenue Department.

  • S. Sangeeta Satyanarayana as Director, Health and Family Welfare, and CEO, Arogyasri Healthcare Trust
  • S. Venkata Rao as Director, Endowments, and Executive Officer, Yadagirigutta Temple
  • P. Katyayani Devi as Additional CEO, SERP
  • E.V. Narsimha Reddy as Additional CEO, SPEED and Industry & Investment Cell, and MD, Musi River Development Corporation
  • Bhorkhade Hemant Sahadeorao as GHMC Zonal Commissioner
  • G. Phaneendra Reddy as Managing Director, Telangana Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation
  • P. Kadhiravan as Joint Commissioner, Panchayat Raj & Rural Development
  • K. Vidya Sagar as Additional Collector (Local Bodies), Hyderabad, and Hyderabad Chief Rationing Officer
  • R. Upender Reddy as Secretary, HMDA
