New Delhi: The Union Cabinet granted approval on Wednesday for India’s three separate memoranda of understanding with Papua New Guinea, France, and Trinidad and Tobago in the field of digital technologies.
MoU signed with France
The pact signed with France aims to foster closer collaboration and exchange of knowledge concerning digital technologies. This agreement will mutually support the efforts of each participant in promoting access to digital technology in their respective countries, as stated in an official announcement.
The statement said that Centre has approved the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty of the French Republic on cooperation in the field of Digital Technologies.
The Memorandum of Understanding has the potential to enhance bilateral collaboration in the government-to-government (G2G) and business-to-business (B2B) domains, particularly in the field of digital technologies. The agreement envisages improved collaboration, leading to employment opportunities in the field of IT.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) has been mandated to promote international cooperation in the emerging and frontier areas of information technology under a bilateral and regional framework of cooperation.
The cooperation under this MoU will start on the date of its signature by both Participants and will last five years, the statement mentioned.
MoU signed with Papua New Guinea
The agreement inked between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) and the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology of Papua New Guinea regarding collaboration in exchanging successful digital solutions implemented on a large scale for the purpose of digital transformation has been approved by the cabinet.
The MoU intends to promote closer cooperation and exchange of experiences and digital technologies-based solutions (viz. India Stack) in the implementation of digital transformational initiatives of both the countries. The MoU shall come into effect from the date of signature of the Parties and shall remain in force for a period of three years, said official statement.
The Indian government has opened India stack, a collection of technological tools such as Aadhaar, UPI, and Cowin, with the aim of encouraging their adoption in other nations.
MoU signed with the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Indian cabinet has given its approval to a similar agreement aimed at promoting India stack between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Digital Transformation Technology of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. This agreement, once implemented, will foster collaboration and exchange of technological advancements between the two nations.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Trinidad and Tobago will also remain valid for duration of three years.
