With an aim to modernizing tax administration infrastructure, Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, the Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), unveiled the newly constructed GST Bhawan in Rohtak, Haryana. The inauguration ceremony, graced by prominent officials including Shashank Priya, Member of CBIC, and Manoj Kumar Shrivastava, Chief Commissioner CGST Panchkula Zone, marked a milestone in the government’s commitment to efficient governance.
Situated strategically in Rohtak, the GST Bhawan stands as a testament to accessibility and connectivity, offering seamless access to taxpayers across major districts of Haryana. Its prime location, just 3 km away from the Rohtak Bus Stand, ensures convenience and ease of access for taxpayers, underscoring the government’s dedication to facilitating compliance.
Addressing the esteemed gathering, Agarwal commended the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved, particularly praising the leadership of Chief Commissioner CGST Panchkula Zone, for their dedication in delivering a high-quality infrastructure within allocated budgetary constraints.
Highlighting the government’s unwavering support for infrastructure development, Agarwal emphasized that the Ministry of Finance had sanctioned significant funds, totaling approximately Rs. 4,600 crore over the past decade, for various CBIC projects. This investment underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for efficient tax administration.
Sharing his perspective, Shashank Priya reflected on the evolution of tax administration over his 34-year tenure, noting the significant improvements in facilities and infrastructure. He expressed confidence that the state-of-the-art GST Bhawan would enhance productivity and efficiency amongst officers and staff, catering to the increasing number of taxpayers with modern facilities.
Echoing sentiments of pride and accomplishment, Manoj Kumar Shrivastava hailed the inauguration of the futuristic workspace as a significant achievement for CBIC. He lauded the project’s adherence to both timelines and budgetary constraints, showcasing CBIC’s commitment to excellence in infrastructure development.
