Delhi Metro To Sell ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ From Today

New Delhi: The Delhi Metro has announced the launch of its exclusive ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ that will be available for purchase at select Metro stations. This initiative aims to assist G20 delegates and international visitors in discovering the prominent tourist destinations of the city. In light of the upcoming G20 Summit, these dedicated counters will operate for ten days, starting today.

Between September 4-13, a total of 36 metro stations will be equipped with dedicated counters where tourists can easily purchase their Smart Cards. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) representative confirmed the implementation of this new measure, ensuring that tourists can enjoy a more convenient and efficient experience while using the metro during their visit.

These 36 metro stations are Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazar, New Delhi, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Lok Kalyan Marg, Jor Bagh,  Dilli haat – INA,  Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate, ITO, Mandi House, Janpath, Khan Market, JLN Stadium, Jangpura, Lajpat Nagar, Barakhamba Road, Ramakrishana Ashram Marg, Jhandewalan, Supreme Court, Indraprastha, South Extension, Sarojini Nagar, Chhatarpur, Qutub Minar, Hauz Khas, Nehru Place, Kalkaji Mandir, Akshardham, Terminal 1 IGI Airport and Karol Bagh.

  • The ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ can be conveniently purchased from dedicated counters at the stations.
  • These cards are available in two categories: One-Day Validity and Three-Day Validity cards, which offer unlimited rides within the Metro network.
  • For those looking for a day of exploration, the One-day validity Tourist Smart Card is available for just Rs 200.
  • The One-day validity Tourist Smart Card is priced at Rs 200, while the three-day validity card is priced at Rs 500. The amount includes a refundable security deposit of Rs 50.
  • Besides offering unlimited rides, these tourist cards provide extensive benefits to travelers, allowing them to effortlessly navigate the entire network from the first train to the last service of the day.
  • Tourist Smart Cards are free from penalties or additional charges for situations like entry/exit discrepancies, overstaying in the system, or surpassing the allocated travel limit.
