Fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the education sector, the Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, launched the ‘Ministry of Education – AICTE Investor Network’ in New Delhi.
Addressing the audience, Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized that the initiative marks an ground-breaking beginning, bringing together students, faculty, investors, and the market on a unified platform. The goal is to strengthen the culture of innovation and address startup funding challenges. He highlighted that this initiative is aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and a tangible step towards catalyzing the startup landscape to fulfill Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a leader in startups and innovation.
The Minister expressed confidence that the MoE-AICTE Investor Network would provide comprehensive support to dynamic innovators from idea generation to successful graduation as commercially viable startups. He encouraged investors, including venture capitalists, to not only invest in ideas and businesses but also in the dreams of the nation to realize the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047.’
AICTE Chairman Prof. T.G. Sitharam highlighted the crucial role of collaboration between innovators and investors in driving innovation, fostering entrepreneurship, and bringing new ideas to fruition. He emphasized that successful collaborations result in the creation of sustainable businesses that contribute to economic growth and innovation ecosystems.
The launch also included an interactive session with investors, where they exchanged visionary ideas and gained insights into the future of education, technology, and innovation. To ensure effective onboarding of investors, a 10-member steering committee has been established under the chairmanship of Dr. Abhay Jere.
Dr. Abhay Jere, Vice Chairman of AICTE and Chair of the steering committee, outlined how the MoE-AICTE Investor Network would facilitate opportunities for investors to support innovative ideas within higher education institutions. The network aims to bridge the gap between investors seeking meaningful opportunities and student and faculty startups striving for growth in innovation.
The MoE-AICTE Investor Network, a joint initiative by AICTE and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), seeks to empower educational institutions as innovation hubs. It aims to create a conducive environment for startup development, transforming innovative ideas into scalable and sustainable businesses. The network will provide startups with essential resources, mentorship, seed capital, and potential investors, aligning with Government’s vision for a vibrant ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship in India.
