Dharmendra Pradhan Launches Project ODISERV to Empower Youth with Financial Skills: Odisha

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Bajaj Finserv Ltd. have launched ‘Project ODISERV’, which aims to equip graduates, particularly first-generation graduates, with essential skills through Bajaj Finserv’s Certificate Programme for Banking Finance & Insurance (CPBFI) programme.

The inaugural event took place at Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) in Sambalpur, Odisha, with the presence of Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan. Highlighting the importance of skill development, Pradhan emphasized that Project ODISERV will not only enhance the employability of youth but also empower them to achieve their aspirations.

Under Project ODISERV, a 100-hour training programme has been designed to cater to youth from tier-II and tier-III cities, focusing on preparing them for employment in the financial services sector. Already, 1100 students in Odisha have undergone training, with several receiving job offers, showcasing the tangible impact of this initiative.

Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman & Managing Director of Bajaj Finserv, expressed, ‘Skilling and employment of youth will power the demographic dividend and is key to achieving India’s goal of becoming the world’s third-largest economy. Skilling is thus integral to Bajaj Finserv’s social impact initiatives.’

The launch of the 100-hour training programme will involve 60 colleges across 11 cities and 10 districts of Odisha. This comprehensive programme has been developed through collaboration with industry experts, training partners, educational institutions, and psychological health institutes, as mentioned in the press release.

With Project ODISERV, the focus remains on not just imparting knowledge but also fostering practical skills necessary for the evolving demands of the financial services sector.
