In a recent announcement from the US-based data cloud company Snowflake, Sridhar Ramaswamy, an alumnus of IIT Madras, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer. The company confirmed that Ramaswamy will take over from Frank Slootman, who is retiring but will continue as Chairman of the Board.
Ramaswamy, a distinguished Indian-origin computer scientist, expressed his enthusiasm for this new chapter in a recent LinkedIn post. Prior to his new role as CEO, he co-founded Neeva, an innovative ad-free search engine, which was later acquired by Snowflake in 2023.
Born in Tamil Nadu in 1967, Ramaswamy’s journey from IIT Madras to this leadership position in a prominent US tech firm highlights his remarkable career trajectory. After graduating from IIT Madras, he moved to the United States in 1989. Ramaswamy’s career includes significant roles at tech giant Google, where he led various advertising products.
His appointment as CEO marks a continuation of his contributions to Snowflake, where he previously served as Senior Vice President of AI.
