DHS and GMC will begin collaborating on healthcare

The directorate of health services and the heads of Goa Medical College met at the Valpoi health centre to hold a discussion on collaboration.  GMC Dean, Dr. S Bandekar, Director of Health Services Dr. Geeta Kakodkar, Officer on special duty to the health minister, Dr. Rajnanda Desai along with other officials of the health department were present at the meeting.

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said, “This is a pilot project that will take off at CHC Valpoi and will be replicated throughout Goa. In this model, we will cater to consultation with specialists as well as a therapeutic intervention.”

Under the project, specialist healthcare professionals from GMC will visit health centres for consultation, starting from the Valpoi CHC. GMC and DHS will collaborate to offer a robust and integrated healthcare model by using resources and personnel from both institutions.
