Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare has given a nod to setting up an All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Karnataka. The institute with 538 beds will be built in three years with an investment of 489 crore. It will be set up at Kyalasanahalli near Hennur Main road in Bengaluru.

Karnataka had earlier submitted a request to the Union government seeking permission to set up an AIIMS in the state for enhancing the public healthcare and medical education infrastructure.
The move came after a meeting was held between K Sudhakar, Karnataka Health Minister and Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Sudhakar took to Twitter for thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for assuring an AIIMS for Karnataka.
He said, “Another milestone has been set in the State Health Department after meeting with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandviya today. The AIIMS grant to the state has received a positive response from the Center.” He further added that this will greatly benefit the state and further enhance the state’s health and medical education.
