Dr. Salim G. Purushothaman has officially taken charge as the Director (Operations) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (Vizag Steel Plant).
Dr. Purushothaman, a distinguished Mechanical Engineer, holds a doctorate from Lincoln University College, Malaysia, which he obtained in 2024.
He commenced his professional journey as a Management Trainee (Technical) at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Bokaro, in 1988, where he contributed significantly to the Thermal Power Plant division until 1996. Thereafter, he joined RINL and played a crucial role in the import substitution of high-value Russian spares for boilers and turbines, demonstrating his technical proficiency and strategic approach towards cost optimization.
In recognition of his exemplary contributions, Dr. Purushothaman has been honored with the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Award by the RINL management for his outstanding performance and dedication to operational excellence.
