The Government of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi has appointed G. Asok Kumar, a retired 1991-batch IAS officer, as a Consultant in the Public Works Department (PWD). The appointment, approved by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, will initially be for a one-year term, with provisions for extension based on performance and departmental requirements.
G. Asok Kumar, who retired in 2024, previously served as the Mission Director of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti. During his tenure, he earned national recognition for spearheading the “Catch the Rain” campaign, one of the Central Government’s most successful water conservation initiatives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Water Day (March 22) under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
Known for his hands-on approach and administrative acumen, Kumar’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to enhance project management, infrastructure execution, and sustainability initiatives within the Delhi PWD. His extensive experience in large-scale Central Government missions is expected to bolster the department’s capacity in planning and implementing development projects across the capital.
