“GatiShakti Sanchar” portal launched by Department of Telecommunication for RoW approvals

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Communications, Electronics & IT, and Railways has launched the “GatiShakti Sanchar” portal to smoothen the Centralised Right of Way (RoW) approvals. The initiative is aligned with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan. MP State Electronics Development Corporation on behalf of DoT has designed and developed the portal, aiming to boost India’s ‘AatmaNirbhar’ movement and transform the nation into a digitally empowered society.

The event was graced by many State Chief Secretaries and IT Secretaries and other dignitaries from across the country. The CEOs/CMDs/DGs/VPs/Presidents of various Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) were also present during the launch.

“GatiShakti Sanchar” portal will facilitate the applicants from various Telecom Service providers (TSPs) and Infrastructure providers (IPs) to apply at a common single portal for RoW permission to lay down Optical Fibre Cable and to build mobile towers for State/UT Governments and local bodies. As the portal has eased the process of RoW approvals and permissions, it is expected that it will facilitate the easy rollout of 5G services, in which a Base Transceiver Station (BTS) is installed at very short intervals.
