Government looking to create fund for agritech startups

Piyush Goyal, Commerce and Industry Minister said at a webinar that the government is looking to create a fund for agritech startups.

The government is encouraging significant participation of startups in defence R&D as it will give excellent opportunities in various spheres such as drones, defence, and technical textiles for entrepreneurs. Undeniably, India and its economy will be driven by technology and innovation. Thus, the government is looking at the significant participation of startups in defence R&D.

Further, he added that the government is anxiously looking at creating a fund for agritech startups. India has more than 65,000 registered startups in just five years. These startups will accelerate India’s Atmanirbhar drive.
