The Government of West Bengal has appointed five seasoned IAS officers to new and additional roles within the state’s administrative framework.
IAS Sanjay Bansal (2004 batch) has been entrusted with additional responsibilities. He will now also serve as the Secretary of the Urban Development and Municipal Affairs (UD&MA) Department. In addition, he will take on the role of Managing Director of the West Bengal Housing & Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO), furthering the state’s urban development agenda. Currently, he is serving as the Secretary of the Department of Backward Classes Welfare.
IAS officer from 1995 batch, Khalid, previously the Principal Secretary of the UD&MA department, has been appointed as the new Principal Secretary of the Paschimanchal Unnayan Affairs department.
IAS Roshini Sen from 1993 batch, currently the Additional Chief Secretary of the Environment and Fisheries Department, is set to assume a pivotal role as the Chairman and Managing Director of the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC).
IAS Neelam Meena from 1998 batch, who has been serving as the Director of the Institute of Environmental Studies and Wetland Management, will now serve as the Principal Secretary of the Consumer Affairs department.
Abhinav Chandra from 2001 batch, currently serving as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, is appointed as the new Director of the Institute of Environmental Studies and Wetland Management.
