IAS officer Himanshu Nagpal has officially assumed charge as the Municipal Commissioner of Varanasi, marking another chapter in his distinguished administrative journey.
Prior to this role, he served as the Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Varanasi for over three years, where he was instrumental in implementing several development and public welfare initiatives aimed at urban transformation, rural development, and citizen-centric governance.
A 2016-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Nagpal is widely recognized for his proactive and people-focused administrative approach. His tenure as CDO witnessed significant progress in rural infrastructure, sanitation, livelihood generation, and the effective implementation of government flagship schemes.
Taking to social media, Nagpal expressed gratitude, saying, “After serving as Chief Development Officer of Varanasi for 3 years and 2 months, I have joined as Municipal Commissioner, Varanasi. It’s a blessing to be getting to serve this beautiful and wonderful city once again with the blessings of Baba Vishwanath.”
With his appointment as Municipal Commissioner, Nagpal is expected to focus on strengthening civic governance, infrastructure development, and sustainable urban initiatives to enhance the living standards of the citizens of Varanasi — one of India’s oldest and most iconic cities.
