The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to bring 137 colleges from 5 of 12 districts under Mandi–based Sardar Patel University (SPU), while 165 colleges in the remaining 7 districts would come under Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla.

The state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday gave an approval to determine the jurisdiction of the newly opened Sardar Patel University in Mandi and Himachal Pradesh University Shimla.
Around 137 colleges from various districts including Mandi, Kangra, Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, and Kullu will come under the jurisdiction of SPU, whereas 165 colleges of Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan, Kinnaur, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, and Una districts will be under the jurisdiction of HPU.
An official said that the government also decided to recruit Ayurvedic Medical Officers in the Ayush Department for 200 vacant posts. Some of the posts will be filled through direct recruitment and remaining on the basis of batches.
The government has also planned to recruit Ayurvedic Pharmacists on a contract basis for 100 vacant posts in the Ayush department. 52 vacant posts will be filled through direct recruitment and the remaining 48 on a batch basis.
