ICMR’s DG tenure extended by 3 months – Government of India

The tenure of Prof. Balram Bhargava, Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research and Secretary Department of Health Research, Government of India has been extended for a period of three months by the Government of India. Bhargava was appointed as DG ICMR on April 16, 2018, for a four-year term.

ICMR Dr Balram Bhargava -

A circular stated, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved extension in the services of Prof. Balram Bhargava as Director General (DG), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-cum-Secretary, Department of Health Research for a further period of three months beyond April 15, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”

The selection committee has begun the selection process for the post. Prof. Balram Bhargava will hold the position of DG ICMR and Secretary Department of Health and Research for another three months.
