In a move to address the increasing demand for AI talent, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has introduced a six-month Certificate Programme in Generative AI under its Continuing Education Programme (CEP). The initiative is aimed at bridging the talent gap in AI while fostering innovation and economic growth in India.
The programme offers an in-depth focus on advanced generative AI techniques, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, BERT, and T5. Participants will also explore emerging topics like Vision-Language Models (VLMs) and Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF).a
The curriculum comprises six specialised courses, including:
  • Mathematical Foundations for Machine Learning
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Responsible AI
The practical nature of the programme ensures participants gain hands-on experience with popular AI tools such as Python, NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch, and TensorFlow. Additionally, learners will work with NLP-specific tools like NLTK and spaCy, making the course highly applicable to real-world challenges.
Graduates of the programme will be prepared for in-demand roles such as:
  • Generative AI Specialist
  • NLP Engineer
  • Machine Learning Engineer
These skills are highly sought after in industries including healthcare, finance, and autonomous systems.
The programme is delivered via live online sessions in a Direct-to-Device (D2D) format, allowing for flexible yet rigorous learning. Participants also benefit from case studies, projects, and simulations designed to mirror industry challenges. A unique one-day campus immersion at IIT Delhi provides participants with a firsthand experience of the institute’s academic excellence.
As India aspires to position itself as a global leader in AI, initiatives like this programme at IIT Delhi could play a pivotal role. While the impact remains to be seen, the launch signals a promising step towards bolstering the country’s AI ecosystem.
Applications for the programme are now open, and interested professionals are encouraged to seize this opportunity to be at the forefront of AI innovation.
