IIT Delhi Launches Undergraduate Programs at New Abu Dhabi Campus

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) has unveiled its first tranche of undergraduate programs at its newly established Abu Dhabi campus. Starting in the 2024-25 academic year, the prestigious institution will offer two undergraduate courses with an initial intake of 30 students each. The programs include a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and Engineering and a Bachelor’s in Energy Engineering.

Admission to these programs will be through two distinct pathways. Up to 10 seats per course will be reserved for students qualifying through the JEE Advanced examination. The remaining 20 seats will be filled based on the merit list of the Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET), a new examination specifically designed by IIT Delhi for UAE residents, including both nationals and expatriates, as well as international students.

The CAET, managed by the JEE Office at IIT Delhi, is scheduled for June 23, 2024, and will be held at multiple centers across the UAE. The registration portal for CAET (admissions.abudhabi.iitd.ac.in/application/caet-2024) is currently open and will accept applications until June 10, 2024.

Candidates who qualify the JEE Advanced 2024 can apply for admission to the IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi campus through a dedicated portal linked from the main website following the announcement of the JEE Advanced results. Notably, seat allocation for IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi will be handled independently from the JoSAA portal, accommodating applicants from both the JEE Advanced and CAET pathways.

In an effort to support students, IIT Delhi has announced several incentives for JEE Advanced-qualified candidates. These include waiving additional fees beyond what is required at the Delhi campus, a monthly stipend of AED 2000, waived accommodation charges for double occupancy hostels, subsidized meals, and an annual travel allowance of AED 4000. Furthermore, comprehensive medical insurance and other welfare provisions will be made available.

The Computer Science and Engineering program aims to arm students with the expertise to excel in the digital era, covering areas such as theoretical foundations, computer architecture, software design, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. In parallel, the Energy Engineering program addresses global energy challenges by integrating engineering, environmental science, and policy, with a focus on renewable energy, energy storage technologies, and sustainable energy systems.

This expansion marks a significant milestone for IIT Delhi, reinforcing its commitment to global education and research excellence. The establishment of the Abu Dhabi campus opens new avenues for students in the UAE and beyond, offering world-class education tailored to address the needs of the future.
