The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) inked a landmark MoU in New Delhi on Tuesday. This strategic alliance aims to elevate the indigenous content in shipbuilding through the supply of high-quality marine-grade steel.
The MoU, signed by Deputy Director General (Materiel & Maintenance) of the Indian Coast Guard, IG HK Sharma, and JSP’s Chief Marketing Officer, SK Pradhan, underscores a pivotal collaboration between public and private entities to address the intricate challenges surrounding national security.
At the crux of this partnership lies a commitment to bolster indigenisation efforts and augment capabilities crucial for producing and utilizing marine-grade steel to serve the nation’s interests effectively. The agreement not only emphasizes the importance of public-private partnerships but also delineates various benefits such as assured quality, specified grades, dimensions, and designated steel plants earmarked for manufacturing the requisite product.
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted the paramount significance of seamless coordination between government agencies and the private sector in confronting evolving security paradigms.
