In a joint effort, the Ministry of Railways and IRCTC Ltd. are set to launch the “North East Discovery” tour, aiming to showcase the lesser-explored North Eastern states of India. Commencing its journey from Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station on November 16, 2023, the tour will be facilitated by the specially curated Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist train.
The 15-day tour will encompass visits to various destinations, including Guwahati, Sivasagar, Jorhat, and Kaziranga in Assam, Unakoti, Agartala, and Udaipur in Tripura, Dimapur and Kohima in Nagaland, as well as Shillong and Cherrapunji in Meghalaya.
The launch of the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train aligns with the Government of India’s initiatives, ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ and ‘Dekho Apna Desh,’ aimed at promoting domestic tourism. The IRCTC tourist train package, spanning 15 days, will offer all-inclusive services, including train journeys, accommodations in AC hotels, vegetarian meals, transportation for sightseeing, travel insurance, and the assistance of a tour escort. Stringent health precautions will be implemented to ensure a secure and delightful experience for all guests.
The Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train is equipped with modern amenities, including two dining cars/restaurants, a state-of-the-art flameless kitchen, shower cubicles in AC I and AC II coaches, sensor-operated washrooms, foot massagers, and a compact library. This fully air-conditioned train offers three types of accommodation, namely AC I, AC II, and AC III. Additionally, the train is fortified with advanced security measures, such as CCTV cameras, electronic safes, and dedicated security personnel assigned to each coach.
