ISRO to Launch PSLV-C56 with Six Co-passenger Satellites

Sriharikota: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced on Monday that the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-C56 is set to launch Singapore’s DS-SAR satellite along with 6 co-passengers on July 30.

The launch will take place at 6:30 am from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The primary payload, DS-SAR, weighing 360kg, was developed through a partnership between DSTA and ST Engineering representing the Government of Singapore.

It will be launched into a Near-equatorial Orbit (NEO) at 5 degrees inclination and 535 km altitude. The DS-SAR satellite will support the satellite imagery requirements of various Singapore government agencies, while ST Engineering will use it for higher responsiveness imagery and geospatial services for their commercial customers.

DS-SAR carries a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payload developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), enabling all-weather day and night coverage with 1m-resolution imaging at full polarimetry. In addition to DS-SAR, the PSLV-C56 will carry VELOX-AM, ARCADE, SCOOB-II, NuLIoN by NuSpace, Galassia-2, and ORB-12 STRIDER. This diverse payload showcases the ISRO's continued advancements in space technology.
