New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted the inaugural hawan at the revamped India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) complex in Delhi on Wednesday. The complex, also known as Pragati Maidan, will be hosting the G20 leaders’ meeting in September. Covering an area of approximately 123 acres, it stands as India’s largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with a sacred Hawan Pujan performed by Prime Minister Modi at 10 am, followed by felicitating the laborers involved in the construction work. Later in the evening, PM Modi will return to ITPO for a grand inaugural ceremony at 6:30 pm, during which the G20 stamp and coin will be unveiled. Prime Minister Modi’s speech is scheduled for around 7:05 pm.
As a part of the Pragati Maidan redevelopment project, the Integrated Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) has been constructed as a state-of-the-art complex. In terms of covered event space, it ranks among the top 10 exhibition and convention complexes worldwide, competing with prominent venues like the Hannover Exhibition Centre in Germany and the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC) in Shanghai.
