Kashmir records 1.8 lakh holidaymakers in March – the highest in a decade

Bestowed with immense scenic beauty, Kashmir is truly a paradise on Earth. As per the data of the Kashmir tourism department, the beautiful valley has recorded a footfall of 1.8 lakh tourists. This available figure is said to be the highest in a decade.

The Kashmir tourism department is expecting that the number of tourists visiting Kashmir will increase in the coming two months as it will be the peak of the summer season in India.

Dr. Ghulam Nabi Itoo, Director, Tourism, Kashmir said that Kashmir was visited by 1,79,970 tourists in the month of March 2022, which is a record in the past 10 years. He also added that the tourism department will start the first hot-air balloon ride at Zabarwan Park in Srinagar to attract more tourists. The department is also planning to start some adventure sports including paragliding at the most visited tourist destinations across Kashmir.

Ghulam Nabi Itoo said, “This year, all the hotels and houseboats are booked for the next two months which is a good sign”.

Sarmad Hafeez, Tourism Secretary said they have planned to organize roadshows in different cities including Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, and Kolkata to spread the word about the key attractions of Kashmir and attract more tourists.
