Kerala Government Announces Key IAS Transfers and New Ex-Cadre Post

The Government of Kerala has announced a series of high-level administrative reshuffles, including the creation of a new ex-cadre post in the Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Department. The new post, equivalent in status and responsibility to that of a Joint Secretary to the government, will be occupied by IAS Sriram V., who has been transferred from his current role as Joint Secretary and Officer on Special Duty in the Finance (Resources) Department. Additionally, he will continue to serve as the Managing Director of the Kerala Financial Corporation until the end of the current financial year.

Key IAS Transfers and Appointments:

  • IAS Adeela Abdulla, previously Director of Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Department, has been appointed as Special Secretary, Social Justice, with full additional charge of Women and Child Development.
  • IAS Abdul Nasar B., former Director of Fisheries, will now serve as Special Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, while also holding full additional charge of Special Secretary, Minority Welfare, and Director of Fisheries.
  • IAS P.B. Nooh, previously Chairman and Managing Director of Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco), has been reassigned as Special Secretary, Transport. He will also assume full charge as Chairman and Managing Director of the Kerala Transport Development Finance Corporation.
  • IAS Shibu A., currently Additional Secretary in the Public Works Department, has been assigned the full additional charge of Managing Director, Kerala State Pottery Manufacturing Marketing and Welfare Development Corporation.
  • IAS Sudhir K., Director of Collegiate Education, will take on the full additional charge of Director, Minority Welfare Department.
  • IAS Aswathy Srinivas, currently District Development Commissioner, Ernakulam, has been appointed as Chairperson and Managing Director of Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation. Her service has been placed at the disposal of the Food and Civil Supplies Department for this role.

The position of Chairperson and Managing Director, Supplyco, has been upgraded to the rank of Deputy Secretary to the government. In this role, the appointee will also oversee multiple responsibilities, including District Development Commissioner, Ernakulam; Managing Director, Vyttila Mobility Hub Society and Managing Director, Kerala State Construction Corporation.

Moreover, Mohammed Shafiq, Deputy Secretary and Director of Programme Implementation, Evaluation, and Monitoring, has been assigned the full additional charge of Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department. He will be relieved of his duties as Managing Director of Kerala Transport Development Finance Corporation.

As part of the reshuffle, Puneet Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, along with senior officers including Sharmila Mary Joseph, Mohammed Hanish APM, and K. Vasuki, have been relieved of their additional responsibilities. The newly appointed Special Secretaries will now take independent charge of their respective departments, ensuring streamlined administration and effective governance.
