The Department of School Education & Literacy, under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has unveiled ‘Prerana: An Experiential Learning Program,’ a transformative initiative aimed at providing a unique and inspiring experience to selected students from classes IX to XII. This week-long residential program, rooted in the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, integrates the essence of the Indian education system and emphasizes value-based education.
Prerana, taking place at a Vernacular School in Vadnagar, district Mehsana, Gujarat, is set against the backdrop of one of India’s oldest living cities. Established in 1888, the school symbolizes resilience, triumphing over challenges like earthquakes and natural calamities. This historic location will serve as the stage for a week of experiential and inspirational learning for batches of 20 students (10 boys and 10 girls) from various parts of the country.
The curriculum, meticulously prepared by IIT Gandhi Nagar, is structured around nine value-based themes, including Swabhiman and Vinay, Shaurya and Sahas, and Vividhta and Ekta. These themes form the foundation of a program designed to inspire youth, fostering respect for India’s unity in diversity and contributing to the vision of a developed nation.
Prerana aims to instill values such as discipline, courage, compassion, and innovation in the participants. Mentored by experts from prestigious institutions, students will engage in yoga, mindfulness, meditation, and a variety of hands-on learning activities, ensuring a holistic approach to their development.
The day-wise schedule includes thematic sessions, visits to ancient and heritage sites, inspirational film screenings, talent shows, and mission life creative activities. Prerana Utsav, a designated day at the School/block level, invites applicants to participate in activities that reflect the program’s ethos, ensuring the selection of well-rounded personalities keen to shape the future of the nation.
To be part of this ambitious and aspirational program, students can register through the portal prerana.education.gov.in. The selection process, conducted both online and at the School/block level, will identify 20 participants (10 boys and 10 girls) who will embark on a journey of inspiration, innovation, and self-discovery.
