In an initiative coinciding with Armed Forces Flag Day, the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence (MoD), has joined hands with the prestigious Indian School of Business (ISB) to offer scholarships to military personnel transitioning to civilian life post-retirement. The collaboration aims to provide these veterans with the opportunity to enhance their management skills, leveraging their extensive expertise gained during their service.
Under this partnership, the ISB will grant a 50% tuition fee waiver to ex-servicemen enrolling in its postgraduate and advanced management programs. This waiver, totalling up to Rs 2.3 crore annually, will benefit 22 veterans each academic year, facilitating their pursuit of advanced education. The collaboration signifies a commitment to equipping Armed Forces personnel with the latest and in-depth management skills, leveraging their existing skillset.
Expressing his gratitude, Secretary of the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Shri Vijoy Kumar Singh, acknowledged the discipline, zeal, and vigor that retired Armed Forces personnel bring to the table. He emphasized that this collaboration provides a valuable opportunity for veterans and soon-to-retire personnel to receive world-class education at the ISB and play leadership roles in building a developed India by 2047.
Dean of ISB, Professor Madan Pillutla, conveyed his delight over the collaboration, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to expressing gratitude to Armed Forces personnel. The 50% tuition fee waiver is a tribute to the unwavering commitment and unmatched bravery exhibited by soldiers. Professor Pillutla highlighted that the initiative aims to make world-class education more accessible to those dedicated to serving the nation.
With over 100 veterans among its alumni, the ISB recognizes the significant value these individuals bring to the classroom and the broader alumni network. The collaboration is poised to strengthen the ties between the academic and military communities, fostering a spirit of continuous learning and contribution to nation-building.
