Ministry of Panchayati Raj, BHASHINI Collaborate to Bridge Language Divide in Rural Governance Through AI-Powered Solutions

In a landmark move to strengthen grassroots democracy and promote linguistic inclusion, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Digital India BHASHINI Division, Ministry of Electronics & IT.

The MoU was signed by Alok Prem Nagar, Joint Secretary, MoPR and Amitabh Nag, CEO, BHASHINI, in the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel, at the Constitution Club of India, Annexe, New Delhi.

Presiding over the signing ceremony in New Delhi, Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel, emphasized that this collaboration will significantly enhance linguistic accessibility across the Ministry’s key portals and digital platforms. Commending the BHASHINI initiative, the Minister remarked that this partnership would further strengthen national unity, integrity, and the spirit of brotherhood.

This strategic partnership will embed BHASHINI’s cutting-edge AI language technologies into key Panchayati Raj digital platforms, making them multilingual, accessible, and citizen-friendly. By enabling real-time translation and native-language access, the initiative will empower citizens, elected representatives, and rural officials to engage more effectively with governance processes. The collaboration ensures that India’s Panchayati Raj system is inclusive, participatory, and truly reflective of its linguistic diversity.
