The flexibility of having multiple entry and exit in degree courses will be soon offered as a part of the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) Policy, introduced under the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked the higher colleges, universities, and institutions across the country to implement the ABC policy on an urgent basis.

UGC has asked the higher education institutions to register on the ABC official website and upload data of students including credits obtained during or after the academic year 2021-22. The institution will also have to ask their students to mention ABC ID on all examination forms. In addition to that University Grants Commission has also asked the institution to create a hyperlink of ABC on the homepage of their official website.
The ABC will digitally store the academic credits earned by students for awarding degrees, diplomas, and certificates based on the credits earned by students. It will also ensure the opening, closure, and validation of the Academic Bank of Accounts, verification, accumulation, and redemption for students. ABC will allow the students to choose their own learning path to obtain a degree or diploma or certificate, working on the principle of multiple entry and exit getaways.
The ABC regulations will promote a blended learning mode, thus allowing students to earn credits from various higher education institutions registered under this scheme and through SWAYAM. All the credits earned by students will be removed from the respective account upon obtaining the certificate or degree.
