Nayab Singh Saini, the Member of Parliament representing Haryana’s Kurukshetra constituency under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is poised to assume the role of Haryana Chief Minister. This comes following the resignation of Manohar Lal Khattar, who stepped down from his position on Tuesday amidst apparent fractures within the ruling coalition of BJP and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) in the state.
Manohar Lal Khattar tendered his resignation to the Haryana governor, submitting his resignation letter along with the cabinet. His departure from the chief minister’s office was prompted by growing tensions within the alliance, particularly as the state geared up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Nayab Singh Saini is set to be sworn in as the new Chief Minister at 5 pm today. Saini’s recent role as the state president of the BJP since last October has significantly bolstered the party’s influence within the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community in Haryana.
