In a major boost to international innovation cooperation, the Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with the State of Berlin. This agreement marks a pivotal milestone in the Karnataka–Berlin innovation partnership that was first initiated in 2022.
The MoU outlines a strategic framework to deepen collaboration between the two regions, creating new avenues for startups, researchers, and technology enterprises to engage in cross-border innovation and knowledge exchange.
One of the highlights of the partnership is Berlin’s decision to set up its India headquarters in Bengaluru, further cementing Karnataka’s reputation as a leading global hub for technology and innovation.
The MoU focuses on several key areas of cooperation:
- Facilitating startup soft-landing and market access in both regions
- Driving joint FinTech and digital innovation initiatives
- Promoting collaborative research and development in artificial intelligence
- Enhancing talent mobility and bilateral knowledge exchange
- Organizing joint events and sector-specific delegations
Speaking on the development, officials from the Karnataka IT BT Department emphasized the transformative potential of this alliance, underscoring its role in building resilient and globally connected innovation ecosystems.
This partnership is expected to not only accelerate growth in emerging technologies but also strengthen Karnataka’s global ties in the innovation economy.
