NLC India, Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Signs Agreement for Formation of Two JVs for Power Capacity Addition

In line with Prime Minister’s vision for energy security and sustainable energy generation, NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) has entered into two major Joint Venture agreements with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL). These partnerships reflect India’s growing focus on clean energy and bolstering power generation capacity, guided by Union Minister of Coal and Mines Shri G Kishan Reddy and Minister of State for Coal and Mines Shri Satish Chandra Dubey.

The first JV, established between NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) and RRVUNL, focuses on developing renewable energy projects across Rajasthan. The second JV between NLCIL and RRVUNL aims to develop a Lignite-Based Thermal Power Station, further enhancing energy production in the state.

The agreements were signed in the presence of Alok, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy), Government of Rajasthan, Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD of NLCIL. Director (Finance) of NLCIL, Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, and CMD of RRVUNL,  Devendra Shringi, formalized the partnership on behalf of both organizations.

Under these JVs, NLCIL will hold a 74% equity stake, while RRVUNL will retain a 26% stake. These ventures represent a crucial step toward advancing sustainable energy production and strengthening India’s commitment to green energy while ensuring reliable power generation through a lignite-based thermal power facility.
