NMDC Appoints Amitava Mukherjee as Chairman and Managing Director

NMDC Limited, India’s largest iron ore producer, has announced the appointment of Amitava Mukherjee as its CMD, effective March 6, 2025. His tenure will continue until his superannuation on February 29, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

According to an official exchange filinga, Mukherjee has been associated with NMDC since November 2018, initially joining as Director (Finance). Since March 2023, he had been serving as the CMD in an additional charge capacity before being formally appointed to the role.

In addition to leading NMDC, Mukherjee also serves as the Chairman of NMDC Steel and Legacy Iron Ore, further strengthening his influence in India’s mining and steel sector.
A seasoned financial expert, Mukherjee is a cost accountant by profession and a senior officer from the 1996 batch of the Indian Railway Accounts Services.
