Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has recently introduced an exciting new feature for WhatsApp that allows users to conveniently share their screen during video calls. This cross-platform compatible feature empowers users to effortlessly showcase a live view of their screen to one or more individuals on the call.
According to WhatsApp’s official press release, screen sharing allows users to effortlessly share their screen view with others during calls. Whether it’s collaborating on work documents, reminiscing precious moments with loved ones through shared photos, organizing a well-deserved vacation with companions, or even offering patient technology assistance to grandparents, screen sharing has become an indispensable feature.
To utilize this feature, users must have the latest versions of WhatsApp installed on their devices. During a video call, a new ‘Share’ icon will appear at the bottom of the screen. By tapping on this icon, users will be prompted to grant access for screen sharing. As a result, their screen will be streamed to the other party involved in the call.
Key highlights:
- The feature is being out in a phased manner.
- Some users may already have access to it on their WhatsApp, while others may have to wait a little longer.
- Moreover, the feature also enables landscape mode for video calls. This can be particularly advantageous when sharing the screen from desktop platforms, providing a wider and more immersive viewing experience.
WhatsApp’s screen-sharing feature is also applicable for group calls, making it a versatile tool in professional settings. This functionality allows users who previously relied on apps like Google Meet and Zoom to now use WhatsApp for screen-sharing purposes.
