New Delhi: On Tuesday, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met his US counterpart Jake Sullivan and discussed an array of regional and global issues.
US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is accompanied by a delegation of senior US government officials and leaders of the US industry during his official visit to India. His visit comes in the run-up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming state visit to the US.
As per reports, the two NSAs reviewed the progress of the India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET), setting new priorities as well as objectives for the same.
In line with the launch of the iCET in May 2022, both the NSAs have initiated the effort between the two countries to engage in the identified areas of collaboration, including Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Semiconductors, Telecommunications, Defence, and Space.
The second Track 1.5 dialogue on iCET organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry was also attended by both. During his address at the event, NSA Ajit Doval said, ‘It is not only a government-to-government arrangement of having a high vision, but it is also a collaborative initiative of industry-academia, research bodies, think tanks and all others experts making a common endeavor to see India and United States in a different orbit.’
Expressing his happiness, NSA Doval added, ‘To give an orbital jump to our strategic relationships, we are able to build the capabilities, explore the opportunities, and are seeing the futuristic prospects that lie ahead.’
He also stated that the future of the India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET) is very bright, and this collaboration is going to emerge as one of the critical pillars in the India-US bilateral strategic partnerships.
Further, to kickstart the Indo-US quantum coordination mechanism, both countries have signed an MoU on semiconductors, informed NSA Ajit Doval.
The event was attended by leading representatives of academia and industry from both countries. Moreover, they highlighted the collaborative approach and encouraged stakeholders on both sides to strive for technology value chain partnerships that would lead to the co-development and co-production of high-technology products and services in both countries.
Also, NSA Sullivan also PM Modi and briefed him on the progress in various sectors of bilateral cooperation. PM Modi said that he looked forward to a productive visit and an engaging conversation with President Biden on bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual interest. NSA Sullivan is also scheduled to meet other Indian government officials.
