SAI20 Summit Concludes, Fostering Collaboration and Accountability Among G20 Supreme Audit Institutions

Goa: On Wednesday, the SAI20 Summit of the Supreme Audit Institutions-20 engagement group under the G20 Presidency concluded in Goa, while stressing the responsible use of AI along with highlighting the potential of the Blue Economy.Supreme Audit Institutions 20 -

Shri Girish Chandra Murmu, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India and the Chair of the Supreme Audit Institutions-20 (SAI20) Engagement Group, delivered the concluding remarks.

The CAG of India, in his valedictory address, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the SAI20 leaders and delegates for endorsing their commitment to the SAI20 mandate for a better world and the spirit of collaboration and oneness. He also appreciated the active participation and contribution of their ideas as well as experiences during the summit.

SAI20 -CAG highlighted that collectively, SAIs have chartered a path to heighten efficiency, accountability, and transparency in the optimized maturing of the new-age areas of the Blue Economy and Artificial Intelligence. He further emphasized the importance of inclusive capacity building, collaboration, and the formulation of actionable audit products in these areas.

The SAIs agreed to cooperate and collaborate in knowledge-sharing endeavors involving the exchange of innovative ideas and best practices, thus equipping SAIs to face the challenges of auditing the frontier spheres of the Blue Economy and Responsible Artificial Intelligence.

Governor of Goa P.S Sreedharan Pillai, CAG Girish Chandra Murmu, and G20 India  addressed the Summit and shared thought-provoking insights. Discussions centered around two key priority areas- the Blue Economy & Responsible use of AI.

Focusing on the deliberations and adoption of the final draft of the SAI20 Communique, the final SAI20 Communique, an inclusive, decisive, and action-oriented document, was adopted upon consensus by SAI20 member SAIs at the SAI20 summit.

Industry experts shared their valuable insights and experience on the different aspects of the Blue Economy.

During a press conference, Shri Murmu said that after the two-day meeting, there is a consensus that SAI20 represented an action-oriented forum for the SAIs of G20 countries to collaborate on sharing of best practices, capacity building and development of appropriate auditing guidelines and actionable tool kits for auditing national priorities, which was also reflected in the SAI20 Communique adopted during the Summit.
