The Odisha Police Recruitment Board has commenced the registration-cum-application process for 933 Sub Inspector (SI) and equivalent vacancies today. Eligible candidates can apply online at odishapolice.gov.in until February 10, 2025. Notably, there is no application fee for this recruitment.
Vacancy Details:
- Sub-Inspector of Police: 609 posts
- Sub-Inspector of Police (Armed): 253 posts
- Station Officer (Fire Service): 47 posts
- Assistant Jailor: 24 posts
The recruitment is conducted under the Home Department, Government of Odisha. Persons with disabilities (PwD) are not eligible to apply for these posts. Women and transgender candidates can apply for SI Police and Assistant Jailor roles only.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age Limit: Candidates must be aged between 21 and 25 years as of January 1, 2024. Relaxation of five years is granted to SC, ST, SEBC, and women candidates. Ex-servicemen are eligible for relaxation equal to their service period.
- Citizenship and Language Requirements: Applicants must be Indian citizens, with the ability to speak, read, and write Odia. They should have studied Odia in school or passed a written test in Odia at the ME school level conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha.
- Education Qualification:
For SI Police, SI Police (Armed), and Assistant Jailor: A bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
For Station Officer (Fire Service): Applicants must hold a degree in Science or Engineering.
- Disqualifications: Candidates with more than one living spouse or a criminal conviction cannot apply.
Selection Process:
The recruitment process involves an OMR-based written test followed by Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST). While PET/PST are qualifying in nature, only candidates scoring in the top merit order—equal to seven times the number of vacancies—will proceed to these rounds after the written test.
