The PM CARES for Children scheme among others provides support to the eligible children through convergent approach, health, gap funding for ensuring education, monthly stipend once the child turns 18, and Rs. 10 lakhs at the age of 23.
The Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India has extended the Scheme till 28 February, 2022. Earlier the last date to enroll for the scheme was 31st December, 2021.

All eligible children must enroll till 28the Feb’22 to avail the various benefits of the PM CARES for Children scheme. The children eligible for this scheme are those who all have lost both parents or surviving parent or legal guardian/adoptive parents/single adoptive parent due to COVID 19 pandemic, starting from 11.03.2020, the date on which World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 as pandemic. To be entitled to benefits under this scheme Child should be less than 18 years of age on the date of death of parents.
The objective of PM CARES for Children scheme is to make sure those children who lost their parents due to COVID gets comprehensive care and protection in a sustained manner. It will enable their wellbeing through health insurance, empower them through education and equip them for self-sufficient existence with financial support on reaching 23 years of age.
