Accelerating the socio-economic development of Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of transformative projects worth ₹32,000 crore. These projects, spanning various sectors including health, education, transportation, energy, and civic infrastructure, are poised to usher in a new era of development and progress in the region.
During the inauguration ceremony held on Tuesday, PM Modi flagged off the first Electric Train in the valley, marking a historic moment for the region’s transportation sector. Additionally, he inaugurated the train service between Sangaldan station and Baramulla station, signifying a major stride towards enhancing connectivity and mobility in Jammu and Kashmir.
One of the key highlights of the event was the commissioning of the Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan section, featuring the usage of Ballast Less Track (BLT), which promises a superior riding experience for passengers. This section also boasts India’s longest transportation tunnel, T-50, spanning 12.77 kilometers, further enhancing connectivity and accessibility in the region.
Moreover, PM Modi handed out appointment orders to approximately 1500 newly recruited government officials, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening the administrative framework in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi expressed unwavering confidence in the potential of Jammu and Kashmir, vowing to fulfill the aspirations of its people with the vision of ‘Viksit Jammu and Kashmir.’ He assured the residents that their dreams, nurtured over the past seven decades, would be realized under his leadership in the coming years.
The event also witnessed the presence of Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Union minister Jitendra Singh, and prominent BJP leaders, underscoring the collaborative effort towards the region’s development.
Among the key projects inaugurated and initiated by PM Modi include the construction of a new terminal building at Jammu Airport, aimed at enhancing air connectivity and promoting tourism and trade. Additionally, various rail and road projects were dedicated to the nation, promising improved connectivity, environmental sustainability, and overall economic development.
Furthermore, the foundation stone was laid for a state-of-the-art CUF Petroleum depot in Jammu, which will significantly augment the storage capacity for various petroleum products, catering to the region’s energy needs.
In addition to these infrastructure projects, several development initiatives worth over ₹3150 crores were inaugurated and launched, focusing on strengthening civic infrastructure and providing essential public facilities across Jammu and Kashmir.
