Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rewari, in the esteemed presence of several dignitaries including Bandaru Dattatreya, Governor of Haryana. This significant occasion also saw the laying of foundations for various other development projects across Haryana.
Accompanied by Manohar Lal Khattar, CM of Haryana, Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of State (IC), Planning, Statistic and Programme Implementation, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and Dushyant Chautala, Deputy CM of Haryana, Prime Minister Modi expressed his delight at the event, emphasizing the rapid strides being made in transforming the nation’s healthcare sector to meet the evolving aspirations of its citizens.
Highlighting the visionary concept of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047, PM Modi stressed the pivotal role of the health sector in realizing this goal. He underscored that the cornerstone of infrastructure development lies in ensuring robust healthcare facilities, which are indispensable for national progress.
Prime Minister remarked, ‘This foundation laying ceremony of AIIMS Rewari is in line with the Government’s commitment to prioritize public health infrastructure and strengthen citizen-centric health services through holistic development of the Health sector.’ He emphasized that AIIMS Rewari would not only address the healthcare needs of Haryana but also generate employment opportunities for the youth and facilitate medical education.
Reflecting on the significant strides made in healthcare infrastructure, PM noted that over the past decade, the government has approved the establishment of 15 new AIIMS and more than 300 medical colleges, including one in each district of Haryana.
Union Health Minister, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, hailed the event as a historic milestone for Haryana’s healthcare ecosystem, emphasizing the profound impact AIIMS Rewari would have on ensuring access to high-quality and affordable healthcare for the people of Haryana and neighboring regions.
CM Manohar Lal expressed gratitude to the Union Government for fulfilling the long-standing aspiration of the people of Rewari by establishing AIIMS in the region. He highlighted the institution’s significance in providing essential medical services to South Haryana and adjoining areas of North Rajasthan.
The establishment of AIIMS Rewari, approved under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), underscores the government’s commitment to correcting regional disparities in healthcare services and enhancing medical education facilities. With a projected cost of Rs 1650 crore, AIIMS Rewari is set to offer specialized healthcare services, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and specialized departments catering to diverse medical needs.
