In a strategic move to execute the PM Vishwakarma scheme, the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has declared the initiation of the Training of Master Trainers & Assessors Program under the scheme. The program aims to empower the community of artisans and craftsmen in designated trades.
Taking place at the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) from November 6th to 10th, 2023, this intensive five-day residential training program aims to train 41 master trainers hailing from 10 diverse states, such as Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh.
The Master Trainers Training Programme aims to:
- Equip master trainers with modern technology skills and entrepreneurial knowledge.
- Provide training on entrepreneurial competencies, business plan preparation, and the government support ecosystem.
- Enhance financial literacy, digital and social media marketing, branding, and marketing skills.
- Provide a modern tool kit to facilitate the adoption of contemporary practices.
- Enhance the quality and expand the reach of products and services crafted by artisans and skilled craftspeople.
- Ensure seamless integration of Vishwakarmas into domestic and global value chains.
- Provide comprehensive support to artisans and craftspeople, fostering their advancement within the value chain in their respective trades.
- The first batch of master trainers will cater to the following trades: barber, tailor, mason, carpenter, doll & toy maker and blacksmith.
The program was inaugurated by Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, today. During the inauguration, he emphasized the critical components of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana and said, ‘In the pursuit of building a skilled and empowered workforce, the Master Trainers and Assessors Program under PM Vishwakarma, is a significant step towards equipping our nation with the knowledge and expertise it needs. These Master Trainers, as torchbearers of knowledge and innovation, will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our country.’
‘Their dedication and expertise will not only enrich the skill set of our workforce but also contribute to the realization of Prime Minister Vishwakarma’s vision for a self-reliant, technologically advanced, and prosperous India. Together, we will empower our citizens and collectively forge a skilled India for the 21st century,’ he further added.
The PM Vishwakarma scheme offers:
- Recognition through PM Vishwakarma certificates and ID cards.
- Skill upgrading via skill verification, basic skilling, and advanced skill training.
- Entrepreneurial knowledge and toolkit incentives up to Rs. 15,000.
- Credit support of up to Rs. 3,00,000 and incentives for digital transactions.
- Marketing and branding support facilitated by the National Committee of Marketing (NCM).
The training program will cover the following aspects:
- Conducting engaging orientation sessions for program beneficiaries.
- Understanding the scope of their work and guiding participants in recognizing entrepreneurial qualities through behavioral exercises and case studies.
- Familiarization with various government support schemes available for Vishwakarmas to access financial assistance.
- Training on procedures and formalities associated with bank financing, enabling the trainers to guide Vishwakarmas through the lending process.
- Equipping trainers to assist participants in understanding different components of a business plan, including the nature of the business, sales and marketing strategies, financial background, and projected profit and loss statements.
The orientation program for master trainers includes:
- Hands-on training in using trade-specific equipment and tools, supplemented by modern audio-visual tools for comprehensive practical training.
- Practical guidance on tool usage and optimization techniques, emphasizing the integration of modern designs and time management skills.
- Familiarization with the Trainee and Trainer Handbooks tailored for each trade, facilitating classroom-based training for effective skill enhancement.
- Provision for industry experts to conduct sessions during the trade training programs.
Furthermore, the master trainers will be prepared to:
- Conduct skill assessments for registered beneficiaries in all 12 regional languages, evaluating their existing skill levels and identifying areas for skill improvement.
- Administer a comprehensive 40-hour assessment post-training, evaluating candidates’ proficiency in modern tools usage, digital and financial literacy, branding and marketing, as well as self-employment modules.
