On the eve of International Women’s Day, President Ram Nath Kovind awarded the Nari Shakti Puraskars on 29 exceptional individuals for 2020 and 2021. These women were awarded in recognition of their exceptional work towards women empowerment, especially the marginalized and vulnerable.
An initiative by the Women and Child Development Ministry, the Nari Shakti Puraskar acknowledges the extraordinary contribution made by the institutions as well as individuals, and to recognize women as game-changers and catalysts bringing positive change in society.
The recipients of the award were from different fields such agriculture, entrepreneurship, innovation, linguistics, social work, disability rights, education and literatures, arts and crafts, merchant navy, wildlife conservation, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with the recipients of award and said that the success of government efforts also depends on women.
