Radha Raturi Assumed Charge as Chief Information Commissioner of Uttarakhand

Former Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has been named the State Chief Information Commissioner. A 1988-batch IAS officer of the Uttarakhand cadre, she will serve a term of three years or until the age of 65, whichever is earlier, as per the constitutional provision.

She made history as the state’s first woman Chief Secretary, demitted office on March 31, 2025, handing over charge to her successor, Anand Vardhan, a 1992-batch IAS officer. Her elevation to the top bureaucratic post came on January 31, 2024, following the retirement of Sukhbir Singh Sandhu. Initially set to retire two months later, her tenure was extended by six months, allowing her to complete a full administrative cycle.
