Rakesh Aggarwal Appointed Interim Chief of National Investigation Agency

Rakesh Aggarwal (IPS: 1994: HP), currently serving as Special Director General at the National Investigation Agency (NIA), has been appointed as the interim chief of the agency.

The appointment follows the government’s decision to prematurely repatriate the incumbent Director General, Sadanand Vasant Date, to his parent cadre in Maharashtra.

Aggarwal, a 1994-batch IPS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, brings extensive experience in counter-terrorism, internal security, and intelligence operations. His interim leadership is expected to ensure continuity and stability at the apex counter-terrorism agency during the transition period.
