Road Ministry issues new rules on road accident reporting for claim settlement

The Road Ministry has made changes to the rules on road accident reporting for the claiming the settlement.

The Road Ministry has issued a new circular to mandate the procedure for detailed investigation of road accidents, Detailed Accident Report (DAR). Also, it’s reporting is to be done with timelines for different stakeholders that will aid for easy and quick settlement of claims by the Motor Accident Claim Tribunal (MACT).

The new rules on road accident reporting will come into effect from April 1, 2022.

The Road Ministry further in the statement said that it will be mandatory to incorporate validated mobile numbers in the certificate of the vehicle’s insurance.
